The NSS unit of MAEER’s Maharashtra Institute of Pharmacy, Pune has conducted regular activities and seven days special camp in the academic year 2014-15. Various programme and activities undertaken are as follows:
a)Tree Plantation: Tree plantation was carried out in the college campus, in which more than 100 plants of various species have been planted by the 70 NSS volunteers.
b)Free health-check up camp:On occasion of Navratri Utsav, NSS unit of the college & Ekta Friends group, Tathawade has organized ‘Free Health Check up Camp’ at Tathawade, Mulshi, Pune. The objective of this camp is to provide free health check up service to the villagers and make them aware about the importance of good health in day-today life. Total 50 NSS volunteers from MAEER’S MIP participated in this camp. In this camp, blood group, blood pressure, blood hemoglobin content and total body analysis was carried out by advanced equipments. Dr. Anita Borade (Prathmesh Clinic, Thergaon) and Dr. Varsha Thorat (Yashdeep clinic, Rahatni) have worked as registered medical practitioner to provide medical guidance to the patient in this camp. Around 250 peoples have taken advantage of this camp to check their health parameters.
c)Blood donation camp: Total 100 NSS volunteers were participated in the blood donation camp. During this camp, AFMC blood bank has provided bood bank and medical facility and collected bloods from total 150 donors.
d)Guest Lecture on ‘Personality development & Interview skill’: Total 100 NSS volunteers were participated in the guest lecture presented by MR. Santosh Mangate, to develop personality of NSS volunteers and to make them aware about the common interview skills.
e)Guest lecture on ‘Addiction’: To make the students aware about the ill effects of these addictions, NSS unit of MAEER’S Maharashtra Institute of Pharmacy arranged a guest lecture on the topic ’ADDICTION:A DISEASE’. This lecture was delivered by Mr. Manvendra Jogdev who is one of the members of the Muktangan Mitra Trust, Pune. Total 100 NSS volunteers from our college attended this lecture.
f)NSS week celebration: The NSS week has been celebrated in the college from 24th to 30th Sep 2014 in the college campus. During this week, NSS unit of the college has conducted poster competition, elocution competition and two guest lecturers on the topics of ‘Meditation: Its Uses In Today’s World’ and MPSC & UPSC Examination: Its Preparation’ for the students so that they can imbibe certain morals and also develop their personalities.
B)Special camp: Seven days special residential camp was organized by NSS unit of our college from 02/12/14 to 08/12/14 at village Kolawade (Khadakwadi), Mulshi, Pune. Total 50 NSS volunteers were actively participated in the camp. Following activities and programme were conducted during camp period:
a)Village cleaning & Plastic-free Programme: All streets of the village were cleaned and plastics were collected from all areas of the village. These collected plastic materials were send for recycling by the NSS volunteers.
b)Cleaning of water canal: In this project, water canal (which was near to the primary school and blocked by trees and garbage) was cleaned by the volunteers.
c)Construction of bridge (Bandhara) over the River: Due to unavailability of bridge on the ‘Mula’ river, villagers and school children were facing difficulty to reach the ‘Male village’ which is neighboring village. Therefore, NSS volunteers decided to construct a small bridge (Bandhara) over the river. In this project, stones and water pipes (cement pipes) were collected from the nearby river. In addition, sand-filled bags were prepared. These collected stones, water pipes and sand-filled bags were arranged and a bandhara (8 feet height & 100 meter length) was constructed. This project was appreciated by all villagers.
d)Tree Plantation: In this project, total 70 plants of food-plants category were planted near to the school, river and temple area.
e)Help to construction of road: Govt. sanctioned road construction project was undergoing in the village, NSS volunteers helped peoples working in this project by removing the stones and cleaning of road area.
f)Survey of Village: All NSS volunteers have conducted survey of village as per format provided in the NSS booklet.
g)Rallies: Awareness rallies were conducted in the village to bring public awareness and to develop social responsibilities in the villagers to solve social issues. The topics selected for the awareness rallies were Female feticides, Addiction, Importance of education and Andhyashradhha Nirmulan’.
h)Awareness programme through street play: In addition to awareness rallies, street play was conducted to bring public awareness of Female feticides, Addiction, Importance of education and Andhyashradhha Nirmulan’.
i)Guest Lectures by members of ‘Andhyashradhha Nirmulan Samiti’: During this camp, guest lecture of Shri. Milind Deshmukh & Shri. Rajan Dandekar, members of Andhyashradhha Nirmulan Samiti, has conducted in the ‘Male and Sambhave’ villages.
j)Interaction with school children and villagers: NSS volunteers have interacted in the school children and villagers to understand village life and their problems.
k)Competitions for school children: During this camp, various competitions (Drawing, musical chair, dance, elocution etc.) have been organized for school children to motivate their talent. Winners were awarded by trophies.
l)Donation of Sport & Educational materials to the School: In this camp, sport as well as educational materials were donated to the primary school of the village.
m)Decoration of temple: Vilage temple was decorated by rangoli and lighting of lamps.
n)Cultural Programmes: Various cultural programmes including singing, dance, dramas, playing of musical instruments were conducted daily for the NSS volunteers and villagers.
